South Portland Housing Authority (SPHA) received final Planning Board approval for the redevelopment of the St.John’s Church and school property at 611 Main Street.
The project will be a mixed use, 4-story building with 42 affordable housing apartments on the top three floors and retail/commercial space on the first floor, plus three new residential lots.
St.Germain is part of the design and permitting team bringing this project to completion in a quick timeframe to help SPHA meet funding application deadlines. The team includes Carroll Associates (landscape architecture & permitting), PDT Architects (architecture), Gorrill-Palmer (traffic) and Titcomb Associates (survey).
Our role has been to:
- Perform a Phase I environmental site assessment (ESA) and pre-demolition hazards/asbestos assessment;
- Provide input on the design process, permitting strategy, and support at the Planning Board; and
- Engineer site civil features including site grading, utilities and stormwater management.
Future work may entail abatement removal oversight/management and construction oversight.
