SENIOR EHS PROJECT MANAGER

St.Germain has an immediate opening for a Senior Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Project Manager professional.  The successful candidate will be integral in meeting a growing demand from existing clients for a wide range of EHS consulting services.  This is an excellent opportunity to step into a leadership position with a great company well-positioned to advance and expand business in the EHS consulting arena. 

Must have a comprehensive understanding of environmental regulations (federal EPA and Maine DEP at a minimum).  Understanding of OSHA standards, best industry practices and international standards (ISO and OHSAS) is preferred, but not required.  The individual in this position will demonstrate a high degree of resourcefulness, foresight, and sensible judgment in identifying and addressing EHS issues; the ability to determine current and potential project objectives and requirements; skill in managing, presenting, and completing projects and dedication to continually enhancing internal templates and approaches for various EHS projects.

 Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in science or engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience in EHS consulting with demonstrated project management experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage short deadlines
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills in problem solving
  • Team player, action-oriented, positive attitude and strong inter-personal skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply state and federal regulations
  • Basic computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Routine travel using a personal vehicle (mileage is reimbursed) within New England (primarily within a three-hour drive of our office)
  • Valid US Driver’s License

Primary Responsibilities

 Providing various EHS consulting services to clients primarily in waste, petroleum, energy, manufacturing and educational sectors. These services include:

    • Evaluating and strengthening client EHS programs,
    • Preparing and/or reviewing written EHS programs, policies, procedures and plans,
    • Researching and preparing detailed chemical reporting (Tier II, Form R, MAIRIS, etc.),
    • Serving as an outsourced EHS employee for various clients who do not have existing or sufficient EHS staff (i.e. working at client facilities on a routine basis to ensure EHS compliance),
    • Delivering training on EHS compliance subjects,
    • Conducting proactive mock-EPA/DEP compliance evaluations,
    • Providing client assistance during and after regulatory inspections
  • Maintaining and growing existing client relationships
  • Fostering new client relationships
  • Overseeing and mentoring staff EHS specialists

 While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is often required to:

  • Sit or stand for extended periods of time, walk (at times over uneven surfaces), reach with arms and hands, and to stoop or kneel
  • Routinely wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and/or clothing (e.g. steel-toed boots, Tyvek suits, etc.)
  • At times lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Work in environments ranging from office to industrial indoor settings, to outdoors in all weather conditions and terrain

Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the field of environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance while working with experienced EHS professionals and clients in industry settings. There is room for advancement within the team and company.  The EHS Specialist will work with Project Managers and clients to provide technical EHS support  in the office and at client facilities. The successful candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills, have the ability to follow up in a timely manner and meet deadlines.

 Job Requirements

        • 0-3 years of experience in EHS or related environment
        • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental sciences, occupational health and safety or other science related field
        • Strong critical thinking, technical writing, organizational, communication, and presentation skills
        • Self-motivated, action-oriented, and strong interpersonal skills
        • Quality and attention to detail is extremely important
        • Strong computer skills including proficiency in current versions of MS Office
        • Valid US Driver’s License
        • The successful candidate may have experience with the following, but we are willing to train the right person:
        • EPCRA Tier II and Form R reporting
        • AA Air emissions inventory reporting
        • Oil SPCC and SWPPP plans and reports
        • CWA wastewater and stormwater permitting and monitoring
        • Solid waste reporting
        • Compliance tracking systems
        • OSHA employee safety programs and training
