Typical assignments may include:
Data Collection / Compilation – site inspections, soil and groundwater sampling, data analysis including the identification of trends.
Stormwater – stormwater sample collecting during rain events and compliance inspections at solid waste facilities, oil terminals, fuel storage and distribution facilities, manufacturing facilities, etc. Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan preparation.
Wastewater – preparing discharge permit applications and reviewing data for permit compliance.
Oil Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure Plans – assisting with onsite inspections and plan development and/or updates for clients with bulk storage of petroleum products.
Chemical Inventory Reporting – collecting data and information from clients for annual chemical inventory reporting
Hazardous Wastes – learning processes and operations that generate wastes at our client’s facilities and assisting with setting up proper characterization, handling, storage, and disposal systems.
Research – reviewing proposed and final laws and regulations on regulatory agency websites that may impact our clients and researching the regulatory intent and proper interpretation in order to inform and educate our clients.
Compliance Tracking and Follow-Up – working with our cloud-based compliance tracking system – Sentry EHS – which involves setting up specific regulatory compliance tasks, completion dates, responsible parties, and reporting functions for individual clients that contract with us for this service.
Compliance Inspections – assisting with onsite multi-media assessments of compliance with all applicable environmental regulations or evaluations of specific areas of regulatory compliance such as hazardous waste management, air emissions, etc.
Job Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience in a related environment
• Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, occupational health and safety, or other science related field - Strong computer skills including proficiency in current versions of MS Office
• Strong critical thinking, technical writing, organizational, communication, and presentation skills
• Self-motivated, action-oriented, and strong interpersonal skills
• Quality and attention to detail is extremely important - Valid US Driver’s License
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is often required to:
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time, walk (at times over uneven surfaces), reach with arms and hands, and to stoop or kneel;
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and/or clothing (e.g. steel-toed boots) is routinely required;
• Lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds at times; and
• Work in environments ranging from office to industrial indoor settings, to outdoors in all seasons, weather conditions and terrain.
