Maine Hazardous & Universal Waste Training for Large and Small Quantity Generators

This 8-hour course is like no other. At St.Germain you’ll learn practical ways to apply Maine Department of Environmental Protection’s regulations to your facility operations. The focus will be on: requirements for labeling, inspecting, packaging and storage of hazardous waste; unwritten regulatory policies and interpretations; and how to avoid common compliance pitfalls.

Plus you’ll receive in-depth training on: making hazardous waste determinations; exploring not widely known options of abbreviated permits to treat hazardous waste; state and federal spill reporting requirements, with detailed flow charts; and a step-by-step approach for preparing for a regulatory inspection.

Who Should Attend:

Training is required annually for large quantity generators, and highly recommended for small quantity generators. Anyone who handles, labels, ships or categorizes hazardous or universal waste should plan to attend such as:

  • + EHS staff including supervisors, technicians or chemical handlers.
  • + Maintenance staff including those who are involved in replacing fluorescent bulbs or batteries or other waste materials.
  • + Facilities staff including managers and directors.
  • + Shipping & Receiving staff if they have responsibility for labeling, packaging, or loading wastes for offsite disposal.
